Apple has made a strong start with the iPhone 16 sales in India and analysts suggest both the 16 and 16 Pro models have found takers. But the biggest development from the company is the news about making the premium iPhone 16 Pro models in India, just a few weeks after its global launch.
This is the first iPhone Pro model to be assembled in the country, which also shows Apple’s focus on the Indian market not only for iPhone sales but manufacturing as well. But the biggest question people ask after hearing about Apple making iPhone in India is related to the price tag. So, will the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max price in India see further cuts after this update?
Apple already surprised everybody by launching the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max at Rs 15,000 less than the launch price of iPhone 15 Pro series in the country. You can attribute that to the recent custom duty cuts in the Union Budget 2024 by the Indian government and the company seemed happy to pass on the benefits to the consumers.
However, we didn’t see the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus prices change this year, even though both the models are made in India.
So, what can buyers expect from Apple now that the iPhone 16 Pro series are also being assembled in the country? Going by our estimates, Apple is unlikely to slash the iPhone 16 Pro price in India any further and the next Pro models are expected to see a similar price range, even if they push major upgrades.
The company’s biggest reason to expedite these models is to reduce its dependence on China, and India is becoming a viable alternative for Apple and other tech companies.
Apple’s make in India iPhones are essentially using components that are imported, which is higher in case of the iPhone Pro models. So getting these parts imported and the expertise needed to assemble these iPhones means Apple will take a few years before really showing us a big impact because of its local assembling push.
