The highly anticipated Apple iPhone 16 launch had led to excited customers queuing up at select stores in the country from the day before it was available for sale. The craze for the latest iPhone model has heightened so much that customers are now willing to buy their dream phone in the black market.
It has been reported that several shopkeepers across many cities are now charging Rs 10,000 more than the MRP for a specific model of the iPhone 16. Customers are also willing to pay this extra amount without hesitation only to grab their favourite iPhone. This black marketing of iPhones is rampant across cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur.
According to a report from ‘Hindustan’, shopkeepers who are engaged in this black-marketing said that there is excitement among customers about the iPhone 16 Pro Max model. A retail shopkeeper from Jaipur said that they have been selling iPhone 16 Pro Max for Rs 10,000 extra and people are buying it without any hesitation.
When the shopkeeper was asked which colour of the model is being sold the most, he said, ‘Desert Titanium’. He said that this specific light pink colour of the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max model has become a bestseller. It was also found that shopkeepers were charging Rs 5,000-6,000 extra for other colours.
According to Apple’s official website, delivery of the latest model of iPhone 16 will start from November. Instead of the long wait, iPhone enthusiasts are ready to buy the phone from these shopkeepers even if they are being charged extra.
A shopkeeper in Thane has even posted on social media offering to sell the iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB White Titanium colour phone for Rs 1.55 lakh, Rs 10,000 more than its actual price.
